About Gary Snyder Fine Art
Gary Snyder Fine Art is the latest business enterprise for Gary Snyder, who has been an art dealer for over thirty years. Open by appointment only in the upcoming "Nomad" (north of Madison Square Park) section of Manhattan, Gary Snyder will operate as a private art dealer, art consultant, and art project manager.
Gary Snyder opened his first New York gallery in 1991, and quickly established himself as an authority in the field of modern American art. Starting in Soho at 588 Broadway, then midtown at 20 West 57th Street, and most recently galleries in Chelsea at 601 West 29th Street and 529 West 20th Street, Snyder explored a wide range of American art from the 1920s through the 1960s.
Snyder has also helped clients build collections, including the J. Donald Nichols Collection of American Abstract Art of the 1930s and 1940s (still one of the definitive books on that period), the Dr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Zissu collection of Abstract Expressionism (which sold at Sotheby's), and other important collections ranging from early American modernism to Minimalism.
Gary Snyder was educated at Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, then Kenyon College, where he majored in Philosophy.
